Domestic Rewiring

A full rewire replaces all the wiring in your home and is typically needed in properties over 25 years old, or whenever you extend or renovate. Old wiring is one of the leading causes of house fires in the UK.

We'll carry out a full inspection first, give you a fixed price quote, and complete the work with minimal disruption. Every rewire is tested and comes with an Electrical Installation Certificate.

How the rewire process works

We start with a full pre-rewire survey to map every circuit and agree the position of sockets, switches and lights. The first fix lifts floorboards and chases walls to run new cables back to a new consumer unit. The second fix follows once plastering is complete, fitting accessories, testing every circuit and issuing certification.

Typical timescales

A standard 3-bedroom semi takes 3 to 5 working days for a full rewire. Larger properties, listed buildings or homes with solid walls can take 7 to 10 days. We'll give you a realistic day-by-day schedule before any cables are pulled.

What to expect on the day

Power will be off in zones we're actively working in, but we plan the sequence so you keep heating, fridge and broadband running where possible. Expect dust sheets, some lifted floorboards and some plaster damage around chases, we leave the property clean each evening.

What affects the cost

Cost depends on property size, number of circuits, accessibility of floors and walls, and whether you're upgrading to extras like USB sockets, smart lighting or an EV-ready consumer unit. Listed buildings and properties with solid concrete floors will sit at the higher end.

Signs you might need a rewire

Black rubber or fabric-sheathed cables, a wooden-backed fuse box, lights that dim when appliances switch on, scorch marks around sockets, or frequently tripping fuses are all clear warnings. An EICR will confirm whether a partial repair or a full rewire is the right call.

Most clients do. We work room by room so you always have a kitchen and bathroom in use, and power is restored every evening unless we agree otherwise.

We patch all chases neatly and leave walls ready for a decorator or plasterer to skim. Full replastering isn't included by default but we can quote for it as an add-on.

Yes, a full rewire is notifiable work under Part P. As a registered installer we notify and self-certify the work, and you receive a Building Compliance Certificate with your paperwork.
